COSTUMES: should be in this week!

BACKDROP: We will need baby blanket sized cloth or blankets; plain colored is best, but a small design is fine. We are also looking for a half sheet or larger sized piece of solid black cloth to cut apart. These should be to school by November 6th.

PTF is planning a bake sale fundraiser, each family is asked to bring either a dozen large cookies or a 9x13 pan of UN-CUT bars.

Our annual Forensics competition down at MLC in New Ulm is coming up on November 21st. We usually leave at 1:00, forensics begins at 3:00 and students will not return until the evening.

For those that don't know what forensics it is basically a speech competition where the students have been practicing for the last several weeks their demonstrations, short skits, or dramatic readings and they will be judged and receive ribbons.

We are looking for drivers to take the kids down and back. If you are available to drive, please let me know how many students you can take in your vehicle.

PRESCHOOL CALENDARS

Coming home with students are the December, January, and February calendars. Please fill them out with what days your child will be attending preschool and return them to school no later than Monday, November 18th so we may start scheduling appropriately.

PRESCHOOL (3): Miss Lokensgard

November is here!! Our classroom is set up with turkeys and thanksgiving. We are focusing on the letter Cc, number 3, the shape rectangle, and the color gray. At circle time we are learning and reading books about the different animals that live in the forest and about their habitats.

Our science center is full of magnets. We are learning how metal things stick together. The activity center is full of magnets this week. Matching the letter magnets, making numbers out of magnet tiles, building the letter Cc with magnet circles.

Monday- We made a Cc out of playdough and ripped paper to make an owl.

Tuesday- Erased our name with a Q-Tip and had show-n-share.

Wednesday- Scribble scrabble lesson, learned how to draw a strawberry and did our bible lesson activity, gluing a puzzle together to make baby moses.

Thursday- Phonics page and large motor with the other preschool room, Hopscotch.

Friday- Making a rectangle out of popsicle sticks and forest animal matching game. STEM activity we are painting with magnets.

Bible lesson this week- Baby Moses. Memory treasure- I will provide for you Genesis 45:11.

PRESCHOOL (4): Mrs. Dragt

It’s hard to believe its November already!

This week's focus wall is the letter Cc, number 9, the shape pentagon, and the color brown. During show-and-share they brought something that they found while exploring outside in nature! Science this week the kids learned about the different types of woodland animal track by going on an animal track scavenger hunt! For movement we worked on muscle control while we hop scotched across the basketball court. In art we painted woodland animals with forks.

Our bible lesson is Hannah Prays. Hannah was sad because she wanted a baby. So, she prayed to God and God heard her prayers and gave her a son and she named him Samuel.

Memory Treasure: God …. has heard my prayers. Psalm 66:19

K-1st: Mrs. Eckstrand

This week our Bible lesson is God chooses Moses. We are learning that God has a plan for Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. We also learn that even though Moses questioned God, God promised to be with him and to help him. God has a plan for us too, even though we may be little and can't see it yet. God will bless us and be with us throughout our lives. Ephesians 4:32 Instead, Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you is our memory treasure for this week.

In Math the 1st grade will finish their number bundling and will begin a review on addition. Kindergarten finally has number 1-10 down and will learn about the ordinal numbers and words.

In Reading, Kindergarten finished Golly and will have a Unit test, then we meet another new Superkid. 1st grade is learning about the -wh diagraph and how to use the 5 W words with writing and reading. Their spelling test is -wh words and a review of -sh on Friday.

We are forgoing Science this week to use that time with our musical and with our Veteran’s Day songs. In social studies we continue to talk about the election as well as how many/who the presidents were. We also learned how the white house burned down in 1929.

2-4th: Mr. Loersch

Hello Parents and Students!

In God's Word this week we're learning about how Jesus called his first disciples to be fishers of men, and how we, too, are called to share the gospel with the world. We will address the difficult question: could you give up everything to follow Jesus?

For Language Arts, 2nd graders are telling stories using the past tense to learn the proper usage of past tense words with an -ed ending. 3-4th graders are writing about their dream vacations and continuing their novel study of The Boxcar Children.

In Math, 2nd graders had their first test with their new books. We will continue with Unit 2 throughout the rest of the week. 3rd graders are learning how to round to different place values to prepare for their first test late this week or early next week. 4th graders will also have their first chapter test this week.

Its egg drop week in science class! Students are grouped into threes and fours to design a contraption to protect an egg from a fall off of a ladder. We're using K'nex, pipe cleaners, rubber bands, and more to build the contraptions. Your child may ask to take some odd items to school this week. It is up to your discretion if you allow them to bring those items. We will drop the eggs on Thursday!

In Music, we continue to prepare for Yee-Haw! Please put a Western costume together for your child to wear. We will begin practicing in the church to be ready for show night next Friday.
